I joined the Smithson Valley High School faculty in 2006 as the yearbook adviser and English I teacher. I teach three classes of yearbook/desktop publishing, two classes of English I and one class of Journalism I. In addition to sponsoring the newspaper and yearbook, I also coach UIL ready writing and journalism events. In 1989, I graduated with a bachelor's degree in English from Texas Tech University. Before becoming a teacher, I spent 13 years as a newspaper reporter and editor in Kerrville and New Braunfels. I taught English and journalism for four years at Burbank High School in San Antonio.
