Dear Parents,

I would like to welcome you to eighth grade language arts. My name is Kim Sharp and I will be working closely with you and your student(s) this year. I have been teaching at Smithson Valley Middle School since I moved here ten years ago. I started in 1996 teaching eighth grade reading. I was the reading department chair for three years. Since then I have taught five years of CARE reading and writing classes and this is my second year of language arts. I have been the department chair for language arts for three years. I started my teaching career in the Cypress Fairbanks school district in 1991 at Ronnie Truitt Jr. High where I taught seventh and eighth grade reading.

I graduated magna cum laude from Sam Houston State University with a degree in elementary education and a minor in reading. Since that time I have gotten my certification in language arts and history. I spend time each summer in workshops and seminars to keep abreast of the latest teaching techniques.

I have been married to my wonderful husband John for twenty-nine years; he also works for the district. We have one son, a daughter-in-law, and the smartest, cutest, and funniest, fourteen month old grandson. And just when we thought that life couldn’t get any better, we found that we are to be blessed with another grandchild in April.
