Education I received my teaching certification through Texas State University. I have been teaching, since 2000. In 1993 I received my nursing degree from St. Phillips College. When I was working, I went on to receive my Registered Nursing degree from Regents College/University of New York. Most of my nursing experience is in the Medical / Surgical area in the Methodist and Baptist hospital in San Antonio and McKenna Hospital. I also have experience in Orthopedics. I spent a couple of years working as a prison nurse in Lockhart and I worked as a clinical nurse at Gary Job Corp. Life Background: When I was younger I was in the Merchant Marines and traveled to over 20 foreign countries. Most of them were third world and the poverty I saw was incredible. I’ve served in the army and the Air Force. I have been married twenty eight years and have raised three children that have all graduated from Smithson Valley. We moved from Houston to Canyon Lake twenty three years ago and built our own home board by board. I was a volunteer for the American Red Cross on Ground Zero after 9/11 for two weeks and I assisted in opening the Red Cross Disaster Center in Sattler at Mountain Valley Elementary School for 10 days during the 2002 Guadalupe River Flood.
