Mr. Carter’s 8th Grade U.S. History

Welcome to the homepage for Room A102, home of 8th Grade U.S. History. I was raised in a town of 65 people and went to a grade school with only 2 classrooms. After high school, I attended Danville Junior College, in Danville, IL and then went into the U.S. Navy. After serving in the Navy for 20 years, I retired as a Senior Chief Petty Officer, then returned to college. I was able to graduate from the College of Charleston, Charleston, SC , Magna Cum Laude, with a BS in Elementary Education. I have been teaching for more than 16 years, 12 of which have been on the campus of Church Hill Middle School. My former students can attest to the fact that I have high expectations of my students. To their credit, they strive to meet and/or exceed those expectations.

Our effort this year is to enlighten the students about the events that created this country, the people involved, while making it relevant to our world today. Our focus begins with early colonization and continues through the period of Reconstruction.

I will periodically post student assignments so that you and they have access to my academic expectations for them. I encourage you to continue your support of your student. If you have any questions or concerns about your student and their progress, please feel free to contact me.  Mr. Carter
