Art I is a class designed to teach students about the Elements and Principles of Design through creative exploration and expression. Projects and assignments are geared for individual interpretation while meeting the stated objectives. Students will be introduced to a variety of mediums and taught basic techniques for using each medium. Art history and an overview of The Masters will be incorporated throughout the semester.

     Students are graded on daily class participation along with final grades
    on every completed project. Sketch journals are graded at least once or
  twice during a grading period and are recorded as a test grade. Major projects completed within a nine week grading period are recorded as test        
grades and major projects completed at the end of a grading period are recorded as nine weeks exams. Due dates are extremely flexible as each student typically works at a different speed. Therefore, projects may overlap to accommodate the varying levels of work pace.
